One of our latest projects need a VoIP feature to enable web user to make calls to landline numbers. We tried Lypp but we found a lot of bugs that make us nervous – is this system reliable at all?

1) It said to send an email to api@lypp.com to get a developer account. Dont be fooled – they will never reply you!

2) So OK, I signed up for a real account with real credit card. All is well for several days until we suddenly cannot make a call. It says ‘there is no billing‘. Hmm…

3) I thus went into my account to see what happened. To my surprise, my credit card number is prepopulated on the address textarea. Not only the bug that is disconcerting, but more so the fact that they store my credit card number, all 16 digits of them, in their database. Isnt it illegal? Shouldnt they only store the last four digits? So beware guys, anybody who have access to the DB may be able to use your creditcards! Lucky for me, the creditcard I’m using is gonna expire soon…

4) Then I refill my credit card  info and save. But it turns out that it makes me unable to login? Ok, maybe another bug of Lypp. I type in new password and password confirmation and… I got a ‘Redirect Loop’ error - “Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

5) As if it’s not enough, I now try the ‘forgot password‘ feature. It then says “there are no user with [my] email”. I’m out of idea. We’re sending the Lypp guys an email about these. I hope they will reply now. Otherwise we’ll have to try to find some other VoIP service. We found this: Ribbit. but havent tried it yet, hopefully it’s much better than Lypp!
